West Yorkshire Police are looking to appoint a Researcher.

You will be expected to work well with others, in particular other professional organisations and partner agencies.

Applicants will ideally have an understanding of Integrated Offending management and a full working knowledge of Niche/Corvus/Infoshare/Word/Excel/PNC/Webstorm and an understanding of Management of Police Information.

Duties of a Researcher – Families First

To provide an efficient research service to meet the needs of the district/department, identifying and using the most appropriate products and techniques to support operational partnership staff and enable management internally/externally to make informed operation decisions.

Conduct live time research to support colleagues/partners/management with regards to ongoing operational activity

Research, retrieve and present information in an appropriate format to support colleagues and partners who attend a variety of weekly panel meetings.

Complete and track relevant family paperwork on respective databases including internal and external council systems.
Monitor the Families first outlook mailbox and deal with mail/queries accordingly.

Develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, council and other partner agencies.

Liaise with the council’s early help teams and Children’s Social Care with new family referrals to establish if they are suitable for the police Families First team to work with.

To promote Families First and early help across the district and to work and support relevant local policing teams and colleagues across the district with effective interventions looking and the whole family and utilising wider partners.

Monitor and record individual family interventions with up to date records, actions and positive outcomes on niche and relevant databases providing evidence to evaluate success.

Utilise existing resources and help develop new resources to enable effective family support.

Maintain data security and information sharing protocols of the Police, council and partner agencies. Supporting colleagues and undertaking other duties and responsibilities within the Families First team.

Undertake training and continuous professional development.

Requirement to attend partnership meetings as and when required to ensure relevant intelligence is disseminated to staff and partners effectively ensuring management and compliance with GDPR.

The post is based at Sir Henry Mitchell House, working predominantly a Monday to Friday day shift pattern with an expectation of flexibility to suit the requirements of the department.

This is an externally funded position with funding currently secured to March 2021.
