West Yorkshire Police, as the lead Force for the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Scientific Support Services, is looking to recruit two Crime Scene Investigation Supervisor’s to be based at Brigg, North Lincolnshire and Ossett, Wakefield.

In this exciting and challenging role, you will lead a team of operational staff in providing an effective and efficient response to volume, serious and major crime, offering specialist advice regarding forensic and evidential recovery issues, and delivering the role of Crime Scene Manager.

Eligible candidates must have a science based degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant operational environment. You will also need a detailed knowledge of the practical application of forensic science; expert knowledge of the practical techniques used to examine and manage serious and major crime scenes.

In order to be considered for the role, you must have demonstrated both competence and performance in attending and examining crime scenes and managing the crime scene examination process and resources.
The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate good communication skills and have an aptitude for working in a diverse community. You must also have the ability to deal with the effects of crime on self and in others, which can range from dealing appropriately with distressed victims through to the impact on individuals of scenes of extreme violence.

A basic knowledge of and ability to operate computer packages including casework management systems, crime systems and Excel and Word is also essential to this role.

Successful candidates must be able to equitably contribute to the designated shift pattern and participate in a call-out rota. Candidates must have the ability to carry out visual quality controls and have a flexible approach to borderless working to ensure a full regional crime scene investigation service.
It is essential that you hold a full UK/European driving licence and are able to complete a recognised manual-handling course.

This role will attract 14% shift allowance, stand by payments and weekend working enhancements.
