The Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Technical Surveillance Unit is looking to recruit a Bench Technical Officer to join the Force Technical Support Unit based in Wakefield.
Working alongside the regional police forces and other regional and national law enforcement agencies, you will provide specialist support and technical assistance with covert and overt surveillance operations, to assist in the detection and prevention of serious crime and terrorism.
This role would suit a candidate with a broad range background in an electronics/radio organisation, as well as a working knowledge of computerised systems such as databases.
Eligible candidates will also hold a HNC/City and Guilds in Radio and/or Electronics, or equivalent qualification, and will be able to perform repairs to surface mounted components.
In addition, you will need to hold a current and full UK/European driving licence, and must be prepared to adopt a flexible approach to working patterns; this includes occasionally working unsociable hours and sometimes at short notice.
The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment.
This post will be offered on a job share basis, working 18.5 hours per week between the hours of 8am and 4pm, covering an alternate weekly rota pattern of Monday and Tuesday then Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
