This opportunity is offered as a 3 year Fixed Term Contract

West Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Mark Burns-Williamson, is seeking to appoint a Criminal Justice Advisor to work with him to continue to make a real difference to the lives of people across communities in West Yorkshire.

In this key position you will advise the Head of Policy and the PCC on the Criminal Justice system working for our communities. Your responsibilities include providing advice and support to the PCC in chairing the Local Criminal Justice Board and working better with partners to further develop a more connected, effective and efficient Criminal Justice system across West Yorkshire, delivering on the outcomes and priorities in the Police and Crime Plan.

Candidates will be educated to degree level in a related field or will have substantial experience at a strategic level in criminal justice.

You will come with extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system, experience of managing complex multi-agency partnerships and designing and managing research projects within fixed deadlines. Furthermore, you will need excellent communication skills including succinct report writing, experience of presenting high quality information to groups using a variety of mediums and working with diverse communities.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter, with a strong commitment to this area of work. You will also have a history of working effectively with colleagues at different levels including senior managers and leaders, as well as a sound knowledge of criminal justice reform.

In addition, you must be prepared to work flexibly to support the work of the OPCC, be available outside normal hours to provide advice and support, and travel across West Yorkshire and nationally to attend events as needed. The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment.
