NPAS is the national provider of air support to the 43 Police Forces of England and Wales together with British Transport Police, with West Yorkshire Police being the Lead Force operator of state aircraft and employer.

As a result of internal promotion, we are looking to recruit an Assistant Operations Director to lead our operational and stakeholder management activities within the SW Region as part of our national delivery.

As well as responsibility for the output and staff at NPAS bases at Exeter, Bournemouth, Filton and St Athan; you will be responsible for stakeholder management with the following police forces: Dorset, South Wales, Dyfed-Powys, Gloucestershire, Avon and Somerset, Gwent and Devon and Cornwall.

It is essential that candidates have a working knowledge of the Air Navigation Order, the concept of Air Operations Manuals and an understanding of performance management with the aim of delivering a culture of continuous improvement and increased efficiency.

You will have significant experience in staff management, ensuring service delivery to a high standard, along with an understanding of the likely implications of managing in a shared-service environment.

Knowledge of or experience in working within a policing environment is desirable to achieve the aim of supporting the front line to agreed service standards.

The role will also involve acting as Senior User or Subject Matter Expert on a diverse variety of projects supporting service development. To support this, successful candidates will be experienced in managing and reporting on devolved budgets, ensuring that procurement and financial regulations/policy is followed and best value achieved.

You will only be considered for the role if you have excellent communications skills, both orally and in writing, in order to be able to prepare and present specialist reports to a range of stakeholders and to senior management within NPAS.

You must be computer literate in Microsoft Office applications, with experience of using the various applications to analyse data and information, and produce appropriate reports and presentations.

Please note, flexibility in working is required with a need to travel countrywide where necessary as well as in the Region, however you will mainly work from home. You will also be required to be on call as duty Assistant Operations Director outside normal office hours on a rota with other colleagues.
