Counter Terrorism Policing – North East (CTP NE)

Full time permanent – 37 hours (various teams – see below)

Are you interested in working for a world-class policing network and keeping the UK safe? CTP NE are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to help protect the public from an ever-evolving terrorist threat.

As a Researcher you will take an exciting role in supporting the work of various specialist teams across CTP NE. You will interrogate various police databases and open sources to find crucial information, piece it together and inform decision-makers via clearly written reports.

Our ideal candidates will have previous experience of research and/or experience of an intelligence environment, the ability to interrogate computerised databases and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

When investigating an ongoing terrorist threat or when individuals are arrested for terrorism offences, the work of a Researcher can be very fast paced. We are looking for candidates who can work to tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.

The role is Monday to Friday but you must be prepared to work flexible hours to suit the CTP requirements and occasionally willing to work elsewhere in the UK, wherever required, as part of a Regional and National response.

We are currently looking to recruit Researchers into the following teams:

Prevent
Prevent Team safeguard and support vulnerable people to stop them from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. As a Prevent Researcher you will gather information from a variety of sources and produce reports to support specific cases and briefings to assist the wider engagement work of Prevent.

Tactical
The tactical analysis and research team supports live investigations into terrorist activity. As a tactical Researcher you would be gathering information from multiple systems and providing comprehensive reports to assist decision making and support the prosecution of offenders.

National Thematic Desk
The National CT Thematic desk is a unique national team focusing on key priority threat areas (thematics). In this role you will provide research support to the teams leading the national response to these threats. This role is based in Leeds but will involve some travel to London and around the network.

Prisons Intelligence
The Prisons Intelligence Unit is a unique team looking at organised crime activity as well as terrorism. As a Prisons Researcher you will gather information from multiple systems to help manage the risk within prisons and to support investigations.
