West Yorkshire Police are looking to appoint 2 x Forensic Vehicle Examiners (FVE). Regional Scientific Support Services (RSSS) forms part of West Yorkshire Police (WYP) and operates Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) services across the Yorkshire and Humber police forces. An exciting opportunity has arisen in the West Yorkshire area where we are looking to recruit Forensic Vehicle Examiners (FVE) to be based in Leeds and Ossett.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals with an investigative mind-set, capable of displaying a high standard of problem-solving ability. You will need to be self-confident, capable of learning quickly and have good communication skills. You will also need to hold a full UK driving license.

Training

Forensic Vehicle Examiners are trained at our dedicated CSI Training Facility in Wetherby in line with the College of Policing National Standards. Following a six week course, the successful candidates will continue training at their hub which will involve mentoring with a qualified FVE’s/CSI’s. On successful completion of the initial training and following a formal assessment and sign off by the CSI Technical Lead you will work independently attending vehicles primarily at recovery garages (predominantly linked to volume crime) recovering forensic evidence in support of criminal investigations.

Remuneration and work pattern

The successful candidates will be expected to work Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 and paid monthly. You will be entitled to a generous annual leave allowance which increases with service and you will be automatically enrolled into the local government pension scheme. The starting salary is £21135.

Progression

As a large regional organisation opportunities regularly arise for promotion to CSI and Senior CSI roles.

Following the recruitment process a holding pool of suitable candidates will be maintained for a period of 12 months should future FVE vacancies arise at Leeds, Ossett or Bradford CSI Hubs.
