Applications are invited from all substantive Sergeant, plus those officers promoted to Sergeant under OSPRE who are within their 12 month probationary period and those temporarily promoted Sergeants under the NPPF. In addition, it is open to those officers who have been successful on the Constable to Sergeant promotion process and are awaiting posting.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the Major Collision Enquiry Team to manage resources for the efficient and effective investigation of fatal collisions across the Force, undertaking the role of Road Death Lead Investigation Officer in line with Force Policy and the Code of Ethics.

You will be responsible for the supervision and co-ordination of effective and efficient crime investigation in accordance with relevant legislation.

We are looking for an officer with experience of investigating fatal collisions or complex criminal matters, scene management and subsequent file preparation. Also, can demonstrate a basic knowledge and understanding of the law and procedures around the role of Disclosure and Exhibits Officer.

You will either be PIP 2 accredited or have the ability to successfully pass the National Investigators Examination and complete the Investigating Supervisor Development Programme.
In addition, you must have the ability to be flexible and to work such hours as the role demands with changes of duty at short notice, have a full current UK/European driving licence (Cat B min) and have current Standard Police Driving Authority.
