Applications are invited from all substantive Inspectors, plus those officers promoted Inspector under OSPRE who are within their 12 month probation and those temporarily promoted Inspectors under the NPPF. In addition it is open to those officers on the Sergeant to Inspector promotion select list.

A vacancy has arisen for a National CT Hostage and Crisis Negotiator, covering the North East region. You will be part of the national team consisting of six other Negotiators, reporting to a DCI. There are no re-location or commuting allowances available as part of the funding arrangements.

The successful candidate must be willing to;
• Travel and work across the North East region.
• Support the CT Negotiator Team nationally with training & operational commitments.
• Be able to work from CTP NE when required.

You will work closely with force and regional coordinators, national negotiation units and CTP and partner network to develop, review and validate CT negotiation training, including regional, national and international exercises.

You will provide a link between CT policing and the negotiation discipline, particularly in the development of CT Police Operations Rooms and Fusion staff to ensure effective relationships are built and maintained in order to deliver a cohesive and effective service. In addition, you will assist in the delivery and development of CT negotiating strategies and tactics to Command Roles and equivalent assets/partners, reinforcing compliance with national policies and procedures.

You must be a Nationally Trained Negotiator, Red Trained Negotiator and experienced Negotiator Coordinator. In addition, you will demonstrate knowledge, gained through experience, of firearms incident procedures and intelligence gathering.

You will be International Negotiator trained, or willing to undergo and successfully pass the course.

You must have a full current UK/European driving licence, be willing to use your own car for business purposes while on call and be willing to be on a 24 hour call-out rota, which will include rest days. In addition, you must be confident and willing to work at heights plus be willing to carry out international deployments, if required.

It would be an advantage to have CT experience, in particular in relation to the Command and Control of National CT Incidents plus be a trained CT Negotiator, an accredited Trainer ie Level 3 AET or equivalent, have a current Police standard response driving authority and a current C3 driving qualification, or equivalent.
