Forcewide
THE FOLLOWING VACANCY HAS BEEN ADVERTISED AS AN EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO SUBSTANTIVE POLICE CONSTABLES KIRKLEES DISTRICT.

Police Constable
Safer Student Police Officer
Kirklees Partnerships
1 x 40 hour permanent post
Plus Succession Plan opportunities

Applications are invited from substantive Constables who have completed their 2 year probationary period at the closing date of this advert.

We are looking to recruit Safer Student Partnership Officers to join the Safer Student Partnership Team in Kirklees District. It is a challenging and demanding, but very rewarding role, you will work in partnership with young people to improve standards of behaviour and attendance, and to tackle anti-social behaviour and low level criminality within the schools, colleges and universities.

SSP Officers act as a link between the police and schools and are considered to be senior members of staff. As a result you would routinely link in with other police departments (CTP NE, CID, etc.) in order facilitate enquiries / investigations in the areas they cover.

SSP Officers are part of the Kirklees Partnerships Dept, with dedicated supervision.

The shift pattern is advantageous for officers with families (Monday to Friday (0800 x 1600) – holidays outside term times).

SSP Officers conduct a supervisory type role and as such are responsible for managing their own crime workloads, diaries, demands, etc. Most of the crime enquiries allocated are dealt with via out of court disposals, whilst utilising safer school policies.

SSP Officers work with the university, colleges and schools to the students who are perpetrators / victims of ASB and other forms of low-level offending.

SSP Officers have the scope and ability to develop their own projects.

The role could be seen as a community beat manager for a small community. You will break down those barriers in the schools and communities that you serve, which is rewarding within itself.

Officers applying for this role must have completed their OST course, and possess their own vehicle which they are willing to use for business use (including Business Insurance), as there will be a requirement to work flexibly in terms of working locations at schools, colleges and within Police buildings.

The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment.

If you have any questions about the role please contact Sgt Emma Summerscales, Insp Mark Pattinson or Tracy Collins.

This vacancy will close on 2nd February 2023.

West Yorkshire Police is committed to improving the diversity of its workforce to better reflect the diverse communities we serve. We welcome applications from all minority groups and individuals who identify with one or more of the protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010.

Applicants should be aware that it is not always possible to carry out adequate vetting checks on persons who have not been resident within the UK for the last five years. Therefore, where this applies, applicants may be refused because it was not possible to vet them to the appropriate standard.
