Hate Crime Coordinator
Elland Road Police Station
Leeds

An opening has emerged for a Hate Crime/Incident coordinator to join the Leeds Policing Team based at Elland Road Police station, Leeds District.

In this role, you will:

• Monitor and facilitate the reduction of repeat hate crime & incident victimisation
• Use a wide variety of communication skills to increase public confidence and satisfaction when reporting hate crimes & incidents to the police
• Employ solution focused practices to respond to hate crimes & incidents and support the investigations of these offences
• Work on and help create innovative projects to reduces Hate crimes & incidents to best support vulnerable victims/potential victims.
• Deliver inputs to police and civilian groups on hate crime & incidents
• Represent the Police by attending Hate Crime Panels and other working groups
• Attend and implement training to improve our response and engagement strategies around Hate crimes & incidents

A significant part of this role involves working with police officers and victims of crime as well as other partners and voluntary organisations, providing advice and support as required.

A basic understanding of issues surrounding hate crime is essential so the best service can be given to victims. You will be working on a team of three Leeds Hate Crime Coordinators under the direct supervision of a Sergeant and develop close working relationships with other police, council and third sector Teams.

To apply you must have a good standard of literacy skills and have the ability to use a range of computerised systems and packages, such as Microsoft Office and be a great communicator. You must also hold a full UK driving licence.

To be considered for this challenging opportunity, you must be able to undertake and pass relevant training on West Yorkshire Police computerised databases. In addition, there is an expectation that you will work flexible hours to suit the needs of the department and you will have access to your own vehicle, and be prepared to use it for business purposes.
