Applications are invited from all substantive Sergeants, plus those officers promoted Sergeant under OSPRE who are within their 12-month probation and those temporarily promoted Sergeants under the NPPF. In addition, it is open to those officers on the Sergeant promotion selection list, for the role of Specialist Operations Training Sergeant.

Specialist Operations Training deliver essential training to officers, staff and external Forces ensuring they have the necessary skills, abilities, knowledge and attitude to deliver a quality service to the public meeting the aims of the Chief Constables Policing Strategy to reduce crime, protect the vulnerable and reassure the public. Your initial focus will be planning the adoption of the new College of Policing (COP) Public and Police Safety Training package, developing compliance processes in line with COP requirements, leading a team of highly skilled trainers and ensuring effective and efficient training delivery across the department.

Candidates are expected to have detailed knowledge of Public Order Public Safety (POPS) Legislation, force policy / procedures and recent experience as a Police Support Unit supervisor at POPS events as well as knowledge of educational models and excellent communication skills. The effective use of Force IT systems including Microsoft Office is essential.

The successful candidate must be in date for their OST and First Aid plus be physically able to successfully complete PSU Level 2 training and the associated fitness test. They must have a valid, suitable PDR, meet the attendance criteria at the closing date of this advert, hold a current UK / European driving licence and be willing to work throughout West Yorkshire attending courses and seminars where necessary. The completion of the Public Order Public Safety Advisor course, providing operational resilience to the Force, is also expected.
