Expression of Interests are invited from substantive Kirklees District Police Constables who have completed their 2-year probationary period by the closing date of this advert.

The role of a public protection officer is a demanding and varied role, which requires high levels of personal responsibility and ownership of risk.

Your expression of interest should include why you are applying for the post and evidence why you believe you are suitable (no more than 500 words). Posting will be subject to the standard application process and interview.

There are two permanent full time vacancies available on a short succession plan.

The successful candidate will be required to:

• Manage registered sex offenders in the district through visits, intelligence development and engagement with offenders.
• Conduct risk assessments in relation to registered sex offenders and identified sexual risk offenders.
• Create risk management plans.
• Proactively gather intelligence, in particular relating to use of technology.
• Work effectively with key partners such as probation, social care and Adult and Child safeguarding.
• Have the ability to complete the MOSOVO (Management of sexual or violent offenders) course.
• Have the ability to complete the VISOR IT course.
• Understand and work within MAPPA guidance.

All applicants must have a valid PDR that meets the minimum required standard and must meet the attendance standard at the closing date of this advert. Please note: If this role is a higher grade than your current role you MUST have an overall PDR rating of Successful Performer or above. Those with a PDR rating of Needs Improvement can apply for roles of the same or lower grade, those rated as Unacceptable are not eligible to apply for any roles.
