The role of sergeant with the Thematic Support Desk is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting the work of Counter Terrorism Policing in National Thematic Priorities. This involves supporting Senior Responsible Officers (SROs) to deliver on national strategy.

You will supervise a team responsible for collating intelligence and co-ordinating national activity as part of the CTPHQ Intelligence Hub. The team identify emerging vulnerabilities and blockers, working in collaboration with partners to provide solutions. The aim is to coordinate strategic messaging, best practice, and national requirements, for network consistency within a thematic field. This involves gathering, retaining, and sharing subject matter expertise.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of the National Intelligence Model, GPMS and intelligence grading, with experience of regular engagement with higher ranks and partner agencies. A general awareness of covert policing methods and associated considerations would be beneficial.

A background of working in an intelligence or crime investigation environment and/or experience of project work would also be advantageous in this role.

Applications are invited from all substantive Sergeants, plus those officers promoted to Sergeant under OSPRE who are within their 12 month probation and temporarily promoted Sergeants under the NPPF.

This is a posting for West Yorkshire Police Officers and a regional transfer or secondment opportunity for Officers from the North East Regional Forces. Applicants from Regional Forces will require permission from their current Force to be eligible to apply for transfer or secondment.

The post is a national role based at CTPNE in Leeds. You must be willing to work outside office hours and be prepared to travel, regionally and nationally.
