West Yorkshire Police is seeking a competent and capable networking engineer with hands on experience of installing, configuring, commissioning and trouble shooting complex LAN/WAN switched and routed IP networks, multivendor firewalls and VPN solutions, corporate Wi-Fi solutions, telephony - both analogue and VOIP lines and telephone exchanges and MS Azure cloud. Having experience of working on various Cisco and Checkpoint networking hardware appliances.

Purpose of role:

To technically lead and co-ordinate a professional specialised Digital Policing team, ensuring effective configuration of the network, voice, ICCS and security systems and associated infrastructure through the use of industry standards and methodologies, participating in improvement initiatives, adoption and change control processes in order to maintain and develop the service provided by Digital Infrastructure.

Key skills / experience required as outlined in the Expertise in Role at Level 1:

•Experience of managing applications, systems or networks to meet SLA targets.
•Proven ability to support and manage computer infrastructure in a large organisation with multiple site locations and thousands of users.
•Related degree or specialist networking qualification, or significant experience with relevant in-house training.
•Detailed Knowledge of security issues surrounding large IT and data environments
•Proven ability to lead, mentor and direct staff in relation to resolving complex technical issues.
•An analytical mind set with problem-solving skills.
•Excellent communication and collaboration skills with demonstrable ability to convey, clarify and advise on technical issues at all levels
•Previous supervisory experience

•Has a full current UK/European Driving Licence or has the ability to travel for business purposes.
•Has access to a motor vehicle and is prepared to use it for business purposes.
•Ability to pass vetting to SC level and NPPV3.
•Is prepared to participate in the department’s callout rota.
