Applications are invited from all substantive Detective Inspectors, plus those officers promoted to Detective Inspector under OSPRE who are within their 12-month probationary period. It is also open to those temporarily promoted Detective Inspectors under the NPPF, and to those officers who have been successful on the Detective Sergeant to Detective Inspector promotion process and are awaiting posting.

This is an opportunity to join the Professional Standards Directorate within West Yorkshire Police, based out of Admin 4, Headquarters, Wakefield. You will be responsible for leading a team that reactively investigates serious and complex crime committed by Police Officers and Police Staff across the whole of West Yorkshire Police and those seconded to the force.
Other than just criminal investigations, you will be working closely with our Counter Corruption Team to tackle all areas of Police misconduct, scopings, Death and Serious injury investigations.
As a PSD Detective Inspector, you will work with IOPC and partners to provide legitimate and transparent investigations. You will also provide specialist advice and present the bi-annual PSD CPD inputs delivered across the force to Officers and Staff of all ranks.

You will be experienced in crime investigations and will have attended the ISDMP whether as a DS or DI. You will have a proven record of managing serious and complex crime investigations. You will be an effective problem solver who is innovative and approaches investigations proactively.

You will be motivated, have strong leadership skills, and a high standard of professional behaviour.

This role incorporates a Monday to Friday working week with some limited degree of flexibility to agile work.
You will be expected to be part of the PSD on call rota (which occurs approx. once every 8-10 weeks).
