Role Purpose:
To support the Forces’ Contact function and enable best use of Force resources in dealing with Officer deployment, whilst also assisting with resolution at first point of contact wherever possible and ethical.

If so, this is exciting opportunity to join West Yorkshire Police as a direct entry Dispatcher
As part of a dedicated team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the correct Police response is allocated to jobs that come in via our call handlers. This can be an emergency-based response or one that requires slower time handling, in either case your responsibility will be to assess risk and come up with a solution.
You will be responsible for identifying and assessing risk and making resolution and deployment decisions using a range of systems. You will also allocate resources to incidents and support them in any radio transmissions.
You will be part of the wider policing family helping to keep West Yorkshire safe as well as part of a team of great people. Working in one of the Forces’ Control Room, there is no doubt that you will be making a difference every day.

Skills and experience:
Our ideal candidate will have:
• Previous Control room experience or transferable skills
• Communication skills - ability to listen, empathise and provide support.
• Communication skills – adapt language to meet the needs of different people/audiences
• Experience of information gathering and problem solving.
• Able to utilise IT packages, systems and/or databases.
• Able to appropriately prioritise and plan own work.
• Ability to work under pressure, making logical and appropriate decisions

Eligibility:
Applicants must meet the minimum requirement of, 3 years checkable history criteria, when applying to work with West Yorkshire Police in any capacity. Undergoing this recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment.


Further Information:
You must be prepared to work shifts and bank holidays with the service operating 24/7, 365 days of the year.
