The company

West Yorkshire Police is looking to recruit a First Aid (leading to Health, Safety & First Aid) Trainer to join the Learning and Organisational Department based at Carr Gate, Wakefield.


What you’ll need?

• Level 3 Learning and Development Certificate
• First Aid trained and looking to obtain or already hold a NEBOSH Certificate
• Good Working knowledge of Microsoft based applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Good interpersonal skills,
• Ability to work both independently and within a close team environment,
• Have the willingness to assist other Departments within the L&OD with their learning and development commitments when required.
• Must be prepared to work flexible hours, weekends and out of business hours as required to meet organisational


What you’ll do?

• You will design, develop, and deliver health, safety and first aid learning and development interventions in accordance with Health & Safety and First Aid Legislation, HMIC guidelines and the Policing Plan.
• You may also be required to assist in other areas of training design and delivery within the Leadership and Professional Development department according to business needs.

Candidates not currently holding a NEBOSH certificate would, if successful, commence the role on a Scale 6 salary, delivering First Aid interventions only and work towards the NEBOSH certificate qualification on a day release basis, funded by West Yorkshire Police. Upon achieving the NEBOSH certificate, you will then move to Senior Officer 1 (SO1) salary delivering both First Aid and Health and Safety interventions. It is expected that you will achieve the NEBOSH certificate.
