Expression of interest applications are invited from Substantive Constables who have completed their 2-year probationary period by the closing date of this advert and is open to all Police Officers to join the Professional Standards Directorate, Service Review Team.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in a unique, progressive team within the Professional Standards Directorate, where you will form an essential part in upholding the highest Standards of Professional Behaviour, in line with the Code of Ethics.

Working alongside a team of Police Constables and Complaints Officers, the successful candidate will manage public complaints and locally resolve them using the relevant legislation, statutory guidance, policy and common sense. Identifying learning outcomes, improving quality of service and standards are our primary focus. You will obtain and analyse evidence to produce investigative reports and outcome letters to complainants on behalf of the Appropriate Authority. You will also be required to have phone and effective verbal communication skills along with active listening skills as some complaints will be managed over the telephone where you will be able to resolve issues in a timely fashion.

The Service Review Team is all about prevention, supporting our colleagues and driving continuous improvement of standards. If this is something you want to be a part of, we want to hear from you. The ideal candidate will display initiative and a proactive customer focus approach to the investigation of public complaints. A knowledge of the Police Reform Act, Police (Complaints and Misconduct) Regulations, along with professional curiosity and enthusiasm for this area of business would be beneficial.

The shift pattern will be Monday to Friday (0800 x 1600), with the Team based across two offices, at Wakefield HQ and Brighouse.
