West Yorkshire Police are looking to appoint an IT Trainer to join the Learning and Organisational Development department based at the Learning and Development Centre, Carr Gate, Wakefield.

Successful candidates will design, develop, maintain and deliver high quality learning and development programmes to inspire, motivate and equip people at all levels of West Yorkshire Police, with the skills needed to operate in online and connected world.

To be successful in the role you will:
• have a basic understanding of computerised information systems,
• demonstrate the ability to obtain a level 3 qualification in learning and development,
• be a successful problem solver,
• demonstrate the ability to work independently, and
• contribute to team and organisational goals through cooperation and collaboration with others.

On appointment you will be required to complete an intense training programme to equip you with the skills and knowledge to deliver training on Police information and communications systems.

Starting in the role of IT Trainer (Entry Level), you will have the opportunity to progress to the role of IT Trainer (Advanced) subject to performance and meeting the requirements of the advanced role.

Although based at the Learning and Development Centre, Carr Gate, Wakefield, this challenging role will require you to travel and deliver training courses across the whole of the West Yorkshire Police area.

Training is normally delivered between the hours of 8.00am and 4.00pm each day, but there will be occasions when training delivery is required outside of these hours. A flexible working time arrangement is in place where working hours may be varied between 7.00am and 7.00pm, subject to teaching and other commitments. Some weekend working is also expected.

The selection process will consist of a competency application form and a competency-based interview to include a 10-minute presentation on a topic given at interview. Applicants will be assessed against the Competency and Values framework.
