The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), headed by the PCC, is responsible for working with West Yorkshire Police and partners to achieve the shared vision of keeping West Yorkshire safe and feeling safe. We do that by delivering on the priorities contained in the Police and Crime Plan.

The PCC also holds the Chief Constable to account and brings partners together to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour, protect the most vulnerable, divert people away from the criminal justice system and provide victims and witnesses with much needed support. Working with West Yorkshire Police and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority you will support the effective transfer of OPCC information to the Combined Authority in readiness for the introduction of an elected Mayor as part of the planned devolution in West Yorkshire in May 2021.

Managing information in the OPCC, you will ensure appropriate retention and disposal and effective responses to requests for disclosure within statutory timeframes; assessing harm, preparing public interest tests, facilitating reviews of disclosure and preparing information for submission to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Working across our multi-dimensional team and with partners, good communication and stakeholder management skills are essential.

You will be educated to degree level or have proven recent relevant experience and be prepared to work flexibly to suit the requirements of the OPCC with the ability and willingness to travel for business purposes.

The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment.

All employees of the OPCC are politically restricted and may not participate in any formal political activity.
