Expression of Interest applications are invited from Substantive Detective Constables, Trainee Investigators and Police Constables who are interested in joining the Trainee Investigators programme.

There is a vacancy and 1 succession list vacancy within Bradford OCAIT for substantive Detective Constables / Trainee Investigator / Police Constable (permanent post). The posting will be based at Trafalgar House Police Station.

This is an excellent role for someone who is interested in developing new and innovative practice in the field alongside their Detective Sergeant. You will be part of a team of motivated and enthusiastic officers and staff working to protect the most vulnerable and convict those who seek to cause them harm.

It is essential that you have the ability to operate current mainstream police systems, combined with the ability to learn to operate specialist systems such as LIMA and CHARTER.

Candidates should be aware that this role will require the successful applicant to investigate offences primarily, though not exclusively, in the field of Child Sexual Abuse and associated Indecent Material of Children. It will also involve formulating the district response to Online Child Abuse Groups (aka ‘Paedophile Hunters’ & Vigilantes) as well as other cyber enabled offences. You will be dealing with online sexual offenders, working in partnerships with regional assets and undercover officers, as well as vigilante groups, conducting investigations and seeking to bring to justice those committing child sex offences.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and practice in this field alongside the ability to develop this knowledge into working practice. You will have an interest in and knowledge of emerging technology and trends and how these impact on Safeguarding Investigations.

The successful applicants will be part of Bradford OCAIT and will work a Monday – Friday 07:00x15:00 shift pattern with 1 week of 14:00 x 22:00 late shifts every 5 weeks.

All applicants must have a valid PDR that meets the minimum required standard and the attendance standard at the closing date of this advert.

Successful applicants will commence the role on agreement with other departments.
