One secondment post – 40 hours

Expression of Interest applications are invited from Constables, who are suitably qualified through OSPRE or NPPF to perform the role of Acting Sergeant. This is a temporary secondment opportunity funded until March 2025.
Interested applicants will need to be self-motivated, have the ability to successfully engage and develop links with colleagues, members of the public and partners at all levels. Applicants must be seeking to develop themselves to the role of Sergeant and must be comfortable working force wide, under limited direct supervision.
The main tasks of the role are (this is not an exclusive list):
- Management of Officers both PCs and Sergeants throughout a late shift. Flexibility in deployment depending on risk, Force wide.
- Adhere to Home Office Tasking- Hot Spots and further requirements.
- Day to day clerical duties.
- Reviewing Stop Searches to a high standard. (Development of Procedural Justice Principles)
- Adopt a problem-solving approach to the areas you are covering.
- Undertaking a proactive approach to Policing.
- Accurately collate results data to provide to the Home Office.
- Have good knowledge of recent legislation relating to serious violent crime.

You must be prepared to work shifts and/or additional hours in accordance with departmental working. The shift pattern is an FSDR shift pattern (2 earlies, 4 lates, 4 rest days)

Please note: If this role is a higher grade than your current role you MUST have an overall PDR rating of Successful Performer or above. Those with a PDR rating of Needs Improvement can apply for roles of the same or lower grade, those rated as Unacceptable are not eligible to apply for any roles.
