Based at Wakefield HQ in Operations strand of Local Policing.
One full-time permanent post.

Expressions of interest are invited for the role of Local Policing Sergeant based within Local Policing, Operations at Headquarters.

Applications are invited from all substantive Sergeants, plus those Officers promoted Sergeant under OSPRE who are within their 12 month probation and those temporarily promoted Sergeant under the NPPF.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a small team responsible for the governance, review of practice and performance, and the support to districts around several key policing priorities including stop and search, victim satisfaction and scrutiny.

This is a challenging but rewarding role and will give you experience on driving force strategy and processes at a high level.

You will gain expertise in:

Leading on workstream projects , delivering to a high standard within agreed timescales.

The review and audit of allocated Force policies and ensuring they are developed, implemented, and maintained as necessary and identify best practice.

Research and completion of quality reports and briefing papers for the Chief Officer Team.

Leading on performance, systems and process reviews including quantitative and qualitative checking.

The evaluation of District and Departmental systems, processes and procedures against Force policies and priorities in support of Force performance.

Presenting to both senior leader and chief officer team level , at Reassurance boards, LAMS, and other meetings.

Representing the department at a force and national level around strategic workstreams.

You must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as you will be required to represent Local Policing at a force and national level in a professional and corporate capacity.

You must be able to work independently and have experience of planning and managing your time effectively, within tight timescales and to deadline.

Candidates must be prepared to travel and work throughout West Yorkshire and work flexibly to suit business needs.
