Contact Officers - Advanced Level (Despatch)
Operational Support
Contact Management Centre
Dudley Hill Police Station, Bradford or Admin II, Force Headquarters, Wakefield.

Applications are invited from West Yorkshire Police staff for what is a unique opportunity to join the new Contact Management Centre as a Despatcher. Due to Organisational Change we are looking for suitable candidates to fill a number of Despatch roles (predominately at Wakefield) without going through the current Customer Contact Centre (CCC) pathway.

The Contact Management Centre in the new model will be split over two sites, Dudley Hill and Wakefield Admin 2, and operates a FSDR shift pattern.

You will have enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards delivering an effective and efficient service on behalf of the Force and support the development of a One Team approach in the new Contact Management Centre.

The ideal candidate will need to be proactive in supporting the organisation to deliver excellent customer service, ensuring an appropriate response to crimes and incidents to maximise public satisfaction and confidence.

To be successful in this demanding role, you will already have experience of computer packages such as Microsoft Office, and will be able to successfully complete various IT courses required for this role.

This is a great opportunity for someone who can multi task and has the ability to communicate clearly, with a good command of English (both verbal and written) and a detailed knowledge of procedures and protocols used (for example when to record incidents on various systems).

You will be required to meet all essential criteria from both the Entry Level and Advanced Level Role Profiles attached with the exception of ‘completed all necessary communications courses’; but it is essential that you have the willingness and ability to complete all necessary communications courses.

This role requires the ability to cover a shift rota (covering 24 hours a day, 365 days a year), a flexible approach to work location and is suitable for job share.

You will be required to complete up to 4 weeks full time Despatch training. Ongoing training and development will include call handling, incident management and resolution.

The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment.

The application process will close on 18 September 2018 at 23:55 hours.
