Physical Training Instructor

Hours: 37 hours per week (this post is suitable for job share)

Applications are invited for the role of Physical Training Instructor (PTI) for West Yorkshire Police. The main purpose of the role is to design, develop, deliver and maintain high quality Learning and Development (L&D) solutions for staff across the organisation, inspiring and motivating people to develop and maintain competence in their role, using effective and appropriate methods; to ensure individual and organisational needs are met to maximise potential.

Applicants should hold or demonstrate the ability to be able to obtain the Level 3 Certificate in Learning & Development qualification or equivalent. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing is also essential, along with good working knowledge and experience, in the use of computer systems, including Microsoft applications.

As part of the essential criteria, you should be able to demonstrate the ability and commitment to be proactive in continuous personal development in role related skills and knowledge.

You will need to possess a recognised physical training qualification and have a basic current knowledge of physical training methodology. You will need to demonstrate the ability to successfully complete the TAQA Accreditation, Officer Safety Training (OST) course and the National Public Order Tactical Training course.

In addition, you must have the willingness and ability to travel for business purposes within West Yorkshire police area, regionally and nationally, and have a willingness and ability to work flexible hours, weekends and out of business hours to meet departmental needs. You will also be expected to be physically fit to PSU 6.3 bleep test standard.

Applicants should be aware that it is not always possible to carry out adequate vetting checks on persons who have not been resident within the UK for the last three years. Therefore, where this applies, applicants may be refused on the grounds that it was not possible to vet them to the appropriate standard.
