West Yorkshire Police as the lead Force for the Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Scientific Support Services (RSSS) is looking to recruit a Control Operator to be based at Calder Park, Wakefield. You will join a team of Control Operators where your teamwork skills will be paramount in ensuring the efficient and safe deployment of CSI and other RSSS resources by receiving, recording, triaging and processing information regarding requests for RSSS support.

It is an exciting and challenging role in which you will deal directly with victims of crime providing a real sense of public service. As such, you will need excellent communication skills both verbal and written, and the ability to deal with our customers using empathy and understanding.

You will be supported in completing the various courses required including Forensic Awareness training, empowering you to give the best service possible, but should come with a working knowledge of computer systems and databases, together with a basic knowledge of the geography and locations covered by Regional Scientific Support Services.

The Sir Alec Jefferies Building has some limited on-site parking facilities and is within walking distance of a number of popular food and drink establishments with easy access to the M1 motorway and Wakefield city centre. The facilities are state of the art, boasting in-house specialist laboratories and a number of expert scientific service departments providing opportunities for development and progression within RSSS.

As one of our Control Operators, you must be prepared to work shifts in accordance with Departmental working patterns and work from various locations across West Yorkshire as reasonably required.
