West Yorkshire Police are looking to recruit a Speed Camera Mobile Enforcement Operator to join the Central Prosecution and Casualty Prevention Unit currently based in Bradford.

In this role you will work as an integral part of West Yorkshire Casualty Prevention Unit - Camera Enforcement team. The successful post holder will be expected to travel across West Yorkshire in line with requirements of the role profile.

The role involves working independently to enforce, by use of mobile speed recording equipment, vehicles which do not comply with the speed limits on the road network within the West Yorkshire Police area.

The ability to keep relevant data on enforcement, cameras and associated systems is essential. The post holder will also demonstrate the ability to work with back-office camera systems following training within the unit. Eligible candidates will come with a similar experience of working in a public facing role and will have a proven understanding of computer software packages, as well as a working knowledge of relevant common operating systems such as MS Windows.

The post holder will after training have the ability to present expert evidence at Magistrates and Crown Court in relation to all areas of speed enforcement to assist in the Judicial Process, as well as attending meetings and events in line with the role profile.

Due to the nature of the role, you must have the emotional resilience to be able to deal with challenging situations. A basic Knowledge of health and Safety at work is also desirable. You must also successfully complete a manual lifting and handling course and be prepared to travel for business purposes; possession of a full current UK/European driving licence is therefore essential (class C1)

You will be required to work 37 hours per week on a rotational shift basis including weekend working (14% enhancement as applicable) to meet operational demand, including periods unsupervised. The shifts are mainly 0600 x 1600 /1400 x 2200. Shifts are 6 on /3 off – which includes weekend working but no bank holiday working.

You will need to undertake relevant training in the operating procedures in relation to type approved speed detection devices linked to recording equipment, camera devices and associated requirements and possess a basic understanding of speed legislation and the highway code.
