About the role:

The successful candidate will be working as part of the Server and Storage Team within the Digital Policing Directorate. The post holder will be responsible for supporting a professional, specialised Digital Policing team, ensuring effective configuration of cloud infrastructure, on-premise servers, storage, security systems, and associated infrastructure in-line with industry standards and methodologies.

You will participate in improvement initiatives, adoption and change control processes in order to maintain and develop the service provided by Digital Infrastructure, as well as assist in the planning and delivering of new solutions and infrastructure to support front line operational policing.

Ideally you will have relevant previous experience of working in an IT department. You will have proven experience of deploying and maintaining server infrastructure and supporting users.

As a Server and Storage Analyst you will:
• Identify and implement changes to the Force’s virtual and physical servers, storage and operating infrastructures, checking feasibility, piloting and documenting to ensure successful implementation of any changes.
• Investigate problems and identify root-causes to prevent their re-occurrences to ensure smooth running of Force systems.
• Participate in problem-solving teams as required to provide technical proposals to maintain, implement and optimise server and storage infrastructure for the Force.
• Demonstrate a belief in the management of services for customers, using facts and processes, and the primary importance of supporting the customers to do their jobs.
• Take personal responsibility for investigating problems and trends in performance, proposing solutions, and actively contributing to a knowledge base.
• Assist in the development of complex Digital Policing solutions and infrastructures to deliver Projects as directed. Assisting with the development and support of all aspects of the Force’s Server, Storage, Monitoring, Operating Systems, Virtualisation and Thin Client environments.
