West Yorkshire Police are looking to recruit a part-time Court Prosecution Officer to join the Central Prosecution and Casualty Prevention Unit based in Bradford working 18.5 hours per week.

As a Unit, the Central Prosecution and Casualty Prevention team is responsible for the processing and handling of all camera detections in the West Yorkshire Police area, including the offering of National Driver Re-training Scheme courses; dealing with telephone enquiries from members of the public concerning the issuance of tickets, summonses, postal requisitions and judicial enforcement and for processing DVLA, fraud, and freedom of information enquiries submitted to the Force.

As a Court Prosecution Officer within the department it will be your responsibility to ensure the Unit is consistently providing an effective Prosecution service to the Organisation, Partner agencies and HM Courts. The role will therefore involve presenting case evidence in court, case management, file evaluation and decision making on behalf of the Unit to ensure that the Organisation meets all the required objectives within its portfolio, maintains output and adheres to Court deadlines in accordance with policy and legislation.

Eligible candidates will be able to demonstrate previous experience of work within the Criminal Justice business area, a proven ability to communicate in an articulate manner within challenging environments and previous supervisory experience. A knowledge of computerized databases and software packages specifically Microsoft Office is also essential, as well as a flexible approach to working hours in order to deliver service provision that meets our customers' requirements. The Central Prosecution and Casualty Prevention Unit is based in Bradford, but as a Court Prosecution Officer, you must be able and willing to travel around the Force area. The successful applicant will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment.

Applicants should be aware that it is not always possible to carry out adequate vetting checks on persons who have not been resident within the UK for the last three years. Therefore, where this applies, applicants may be refused on the grounds that it was not possible to vet them to the appropriate standard.
