West Yorkshire Police are looking to recruit a job share Speed Camera Enforcement Operator to join the Central Prosecution and Casualty Prevention Unit based in Bradford working 18.5 hours per week on a rotational shift basis (including weekends).

In this role, you will work as an integral part of the West Yorkshire Police Casualty Prevention Unit, Camera Enforcement team. The role involves working independently to enforce, by use of mobile and fixed speed recording equipment, the speed limits on the road network within the West Yorkshire Police area by identifying vehicles which do not comply with these limits.

Due to the nature of the role, Speed Camera Enforcement Operators must be prepared to travel across West Yorkshire; work within the confines of an enforcement vehicle and from a tripod mobile platform at the side of the road in line with the requirements of the role profile. You must also be able to work unsupervised, carry out manual handling of equipment and have the physical and emotional resilience to be able to deal with challenging situations in the course of your duties.

Eligible candidates for this role will possess a working knowledge of computer packages such as Microsoft Office; a full current UK/European driving license and will be prepared to travel for business purposes. The successful candidate will also be required to undertake and successfully complete relevant training in the operating procedures in relation to type approved speed detection devices linked to recording equipment, camera devices and associated requirements and a manual lifting and handling course.

After training, Speed Camera Enforcement Officers will be able to demonstrate the ability to work with back office camera systems and have the ability to present expert evidence at Magistrates and Crown Court in relation to all areas of speed enforcement to assist in the Judicial Process, you will also be able to attend meetings and events relevant to the role in line with the role profile.

As a Speed Camera Enforcement Officer you will be required to work on a rotational shift basis including weekends, this role therefore attracts a 14% shift enhancement plus weekend allowance.

The successful applicant will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment.

Applicants should be aware that it is not always possible to carry out adequate vetting checks on persons who have not been resident within the UK for the last three years. Therefore, where this applies, applicants may be refused on the grounds that it was not possible to vet them to the appropriate standard.
