West Yorkshire police, as the lead Force for the Regional Scientific Support Services, is looking to recruit a number of Forensic Collision Investigators (advanced) to be based at Wakefield.

These are excellent opportunities to become part of a well-established Regional alliance that is a key component in the response to serious road traffic collisions across West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Humberside Police force areas.

The total remuneration for this position is in the range of approximately £41-44k (including shift enhancements).

The main purpose of your role is to provide a Region-wide professional and impartial forensic collision investigation and vehicle examination service surrounding death and serious injury.

Eligible candidates will have a working knowledge of the construction and function of all types of vehicles, light and heavy, and the law relating to such vehicles.
You must have passed a Police Forensic Collision Investigation examination as currently specified by the NPCC and subsequent essential courses, and be conversant with computer operating systems together with the ability to use computer software relating to collision investigation.

As a Forensic Collision Investigator, you will need emotional resilience to deal with distressing situations. Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to provide biometric samples (fingerprints and DNA) for inclusion on the respective Police Elimination Databases for routine speculative searching purposes.

You must currently hold a full UK/European driving license, with the ability to gain the C, D & C+E driving large vehicle licenses, hold or obtain a motorcycle license and successfully complete a Police advanced driving course. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the designated shift pattern and on call function.

Please note, the application process comprises of an advanced mathematics exam and competency / mechanical based interview.
