West Yorkshire Police is looking to recruit a Regional Forensic Services Manager to be based at Calder Park, Wakefield.

This is an excellent opportunity to work as a senior manager within the lead Force for the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Scientific Support Services (YatH RSSS).

The Role: As Regional Forensic Services Manager you will act as the professional lead and central point of contact for the Yorkshire and Humber region on the use of forensic science provision. Within the role you will seek to maximise the contribution of scientific resources to the detection and prevention of crime. The post holder will also supervise the forensic services budget to ensure that all internal and external scientific resources are effectively utilised to fulfil local and regional objectives.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to lead and coordinate the delivery of forensic assessment, forensic exhibit management, scientific intelligence services and the services of a DNA Recovery Laboratory. The successful candidate will manage the performance and quality standards for the entire Forensic Services Unit in accordance with regional, national and ISO requirements. The supervision of the investigation and resolution of complaints and non-conformances relating to Forensic Services will be an aspect of the role.

The post holder will have extensive experience in a range of forensic science disciplines and a demonstrable knowledge of relevant National and European policies and guidance requirements in relation to forensic exhibit sampling, retention, intelligence and evidence.

The role comes with an attractive salary and 29 days of annual leave entitlement from your first day in post, with an additional 5 days once you have been with West Yorkshire Police for 5 years. Internal candidates will carry across any additional leave entitlement they may already have.

Facilities at Calder Park are state of the art, boasting in-house specialist laboratories. The complex is within walking distance of a number of popular food and drink establishments with easy access to the M1 motorway and Wakefield city centre.
