3 Months Fixed Term Contract
West Yorkshire Police as the lead Force for the Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Scientific Support Services (RSSS) are looking to recruit a part time Sample Reception Officer to join the Regional Forensic Submissions Unit based at Calder Park in Wakefield. This opportunity will be offered on a three month fixed term contract to work four days a week covering Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
We need you to interrogate and update information on a range of technical systems including the Force crime recording systems, Socrates and Microsoft software packages, to provide a comprehensive administrative support function in relation to forensic exhibits.
To commence in this post, you will need an understanding of exhibit integrity and continuity and its importance to the Criminal Justice System, as well as a good working knowledge of computerised databases. You must also be able to compare and update data displayed in various fonts/sizes and undertake visual checks of forensic exhibits and associated documents.
In addition, the ideal candidate will also be able to prioritise their own workload; deliver an effective service provision to meet customer requirements and work flexibly to ensure an efficient exhibit management process.
Due to the nature of the role, you must provide Biometric samples (fingerprints and DNA) for inclusion on the respective Police Elimination Databases, for routine speculative searching purposes. The successful candidate will also be required to complete a ‘Manual Handling’ course.
