Job Summary:
Are you ready for a rewarding challenge? West Yorkshire Police is seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Director of Procurement and Commercial.
As the Director, you will play a key role in shaping and improving procurement within our organisation. With an annual external supplier spend of approximately £200m, this is your chance to develop and drive the strategic direction of our Procurement Department and make a meaningful impact on our operations.
West Yorkshire Police needs to protect local democracy and the integrity of the organisation by ensuring that the occupants of posts with particular responsibilities, abstain from controversial or politically sensitive activities. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of commercial strategies to optimise service delivery and provide value for money.
- Manage a team of 11 procurement professionals, inspiring and empowering them to achieve excellence.
- Oversee all aspects of procurement and category management, delivering measurable procurement efficiencies.
- Handle diverse and complex procurement requirements of significant value, ensuring successful outcomes.
- Lead change programs within a commercial or procurement environment, identifying innovative ways of working.
- Ensure compliance with public procurement legislation, providing reassurance to senior stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Hold a Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Diploma qualification and full corporate membership (MCIPS).
- Demonstrate extensive senior-level procurement expertise, managing all facets of procurement and category management.
- Showcase your experience in successfully managing diverse and complex procurement requirements of significant value.
- Proven track record of leading change programs, driving efficiencies through innovation.
- Strong leadership skills to inspire and guide your team towards a high-performing culture.
- In-depth knowledge of public procurement legislation to ensure compliance.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
