West Yorkshire Police is seeking to appoint a competent Asset Manager to join the Estates and Business Services Directorate. The role is based at Force Headquarters in Central Wakefield but travel across the whole of West Yorkshire will be required. The role is also applicable for agile working with some home working possible.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with the abilities to provide a professional asset management service across a diverse operational estate. The Force Estate comprises over 80 buildings and in addition the Force has staff occupying a wide range of 150 partner buildings on a mixture of formal and informal arrangements.

Duties of this role will include budget management, valuation advice, acquisitions and disposals, tenancy management, landlord and tenant work, liaison with a range of internal colleagues and management of external consultants. An ability to work productively with internal and external stakeholders is required.

The successful candidate will be a talented Asset Manager and RICS qualified, be RICS qualified and have significant experience in asset management including acquisitions, disposals, leasehold management, budget management, service charge management, valuation advice and management reporting. The role is ideal for a self-motivated person able to work on their own initiative to support the Directorates Senior Leadership Team.

The role requires a good working knowledge of the commercial property market and a clear understanding of the requirements of asset managing a large and busy operational estate.

The Estates Department comprises a mixture of professional, facilities and technical staff and works closely with Force Legal Services. This role requires proven experience working with and influencing other estates professional, legal advisers and consultants and supporting large scale projects.

The successful candidate will have a proven ability managing financial transactions and be used to taking day to day responsibility for substantial revenue budgets.
