West Yorkshire Police, as the lead Force for Yorkshire and The Humber Regional Scientific Support Services, are looking to recruit two Forensic Laboratory Technicians, to be based at the Regional Forensic Enhancement Laboratory at Calder Park in Wakefield.

The Forensic Enhancement Laboratory is responsible for undertaking a range of chemical and technical processes in the provision of a region-wide service in forensic mark enhancement to further criminal investigations.

This role would suit candidates with a basic science qualification or experience of working in a laboratory environment, along with the aptitude to successfully complete the in-house Forensic Laboratory Technician Training Programme.

Eligible candidates will come with a basic knowledge of computerised databases and the ability to prioritise workload to meet customer requirements.

Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to successfully complete a safe lifting course and be physically capable of carrying out chemical tasks. You must also be able to undertake visual quality control and deal with the effects of crime and scenes of a sensitive nature.

An awareness of the requirements of ISO 17025 would be an advantage.
