Location: various across West Yorkshire.

There are multiple full time permanent vacancies available, based at sites in Wakefield, Leeds, Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees.

West Yorkshire Police is looking to appoint Advanced Digital Forensic Investigators to be based at sites in all five West Yorkshire Districts. Successful candidates will initially be based at Calder Park, Wakefield before moving to an agreed location.

These roles are generally suited to those with experience of working in Digital Forensics. Prospective applicants who do not have previous experience, including those who have recently acquired a Digital Forensics Degree, are encouraged to consider the role of Digital Forensic Technician - a more appropriate entry level position to digital forensics.

As part of the Digital Forensic Unit, you will support investigations by providing technical knowledge and investigative skills in all aspects of digital forensics. You will be responsible for all levels of digital investigations.

Reporting to a Senior Digital Forensic Investigator, you will support the investigation of serious crime and be involved in all types of investigation. You may be required to attend live crime scenes and enact Magistrates search warrants as well as advise investigating officers and oversee activities of other Digital Forensic staff.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a Digital Forensic environment, or similar experience, and will come with advanced knowledge and expertise of common operating systems and applications. You must have an aptitude for problem solving in a methodical and orderly manner.

You will be educated to degree level in a computer-based discipline, or able to demonstrate significant experience and understanding of work within a digital forensic environment. In addition, you will have an understanding of the forensic examination of digital devices as well as experience of working on all crime types.

As a full current UK/European driving licence holder, you must have the willingness and ability to travel for business purposes and to work flexibly to suit the requirements of the department. You must be prepared to participate in a standby rota if required.

This is a very challenging and demanding but rewarding role. The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment and will be required to undergo regular psychological assessments.
