The West Yorkshire Police Digital Forensic Unit is recruiting entry level Digital Forensic Investigators in the following locations; Calder Park, Calderdale, Normanton and Kirklees.

These roles are generally suited to those who have experience of working in Digital Forensics. Prospective applicants who do not have previous experience, including those who have recently acquired a Digital Forensics Degree, are encouraged to consider applying for the role of Digital Forensic Technician - a more appropriate entry level position to digital forensics.

This role is the first rung on the investigation ladder in your digital forensic career. Supporting an investigation, you will be part of the Digital Forensic Unit, providing technical knowledge and investigative skills in all aspects of digital forensics.

Reporting to a Senior Digital Forensic Investigator, you will support the investigation of serious crime. You will be involved in all types of investigation and may be required to attend live crime scenes and enact Magistrates search warrants.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a digital forensic unit, or similar experience, and will come with intermediate knowledge and expertise of common operating systems and applications. You must have an aptitude for problem solving in a methodical and orderly manner.

You will be educated to level 3 or above in a computer-based discipline or be able to demonstrate previous experience and understanding of working in a digital forensic environment. You will also have a working understanding of the forensic examination of digital devices.

As a full current UK driving licence holder, you must have the willingness and ability to travel for business purposes. You must also be prepared to work flexibly to suit the requirements of the department.

This is a very challenging and demanding, but also rewarding, role. The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment and will be required to undergo regular psychological assessment.
