Within West Yorkshire Police, the Regional Scientific Support Services (RSSS) provides Forensic Collision investigation services to the Yorkshire and Humber police forces. The FCI teams work regionally but operate from one of four bases: Melton (near Hull), Sheffield, Thirsk, and Wakefield.

We are seeking up to 4 dedicated Assistant Collision Investigators to join our regional team. This role will involve supporting the investigation of fatal collisions across the Yorkshire region -working closely with highly skilled and experienced Forensic Collision investigators.

We are looking for candidates looking to develop their personal skills and to progress within the department - where opportunities arise into other key roles such as Forensic Collision Investigators (FCIs) and FCI Digital Analysts.

Key Responsibilities will include:
- Examining vehicles which have been involved in fatal collisions.
- Assisting Forensic Collision Investigators at collision scenes.
- Documenting findings and preparing reports for the Criminal Justice System.
- Collaborating with investigation teams within the 4 Yorkshire forces, and wider agencies.
- Participating in training and development activities to advance your personal career.

To be considered, you must have the following Key attributes:
- Be a strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- Be eager to advance your career within Forensic Collision Investigation.
- An in-depth knowledge of vehicles and their examination.
- The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- The desire to develop mathematical skills to advance to other roles within the department.

Please note that due to the nature of the role, the appointed candidate will be required to provide biometric samples (fingerprints and DNA) for inclusion on the respective Police elimination databases. This is for routine speculative searching purposes.
