• To assist, and deputise for, the Regional Head of Central Services at regional and national project boards.

• To review policies and procedures to ensure effective use of resources in support of major and complex investigations. This will include advising up to Chief Officer level as well as advising external agencies.

• To ensure all Imaging Unit procedures are compliant with health and safety, and other legislation, including accreditation standards required by the Forensic Science Regulator.

• Improving the quality of the service by providing support for the completion of audits and inspections and resolving complaints.

• To develop and oversee the contracts for the supply of services to and from RSSS.

The following key attributes are required:

• Significant experience as a first line manager, together with strong people management skills.
• Role-model and leadership qualities, which can be evidenced through positive behaviour and meeting objectives.
• The ability to lead projects, and to identify efficiencies and cost savings.
• An aptitude for computer-based work – including accurate keyboard skills.
• The ability to prioritise workload to deliver a service provision and good customer service.
• An up-to-date knowledge of technology and scientific advances relating to Police imaging services.

West Yorkshire Police offers a range of benefits including:
• flexible and hybrid working options to achieve work-life balance; and
• a generous pension scheme - Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

Please note that due to the nature of the role, the appointed candidate will be required to provide biometric samples (fingerprints and DNA) for inclusion on the respective Police elimination databases. This is for routine speculative searching purposes.
