1 x Permanent – 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

An exciting opportunity has emerged to appoint an additional Senior Payroll officer to join a small and very busy payroll and pensions team within the Finance Department at Force Headquarters, in Wakefield city centre. In this role, you will support the Payroll Manager in the efficient running of the Force’s three monthly payrolls.

A significant part of the role will be to provide professional payroll advice and guidance to all officers and staff within the Force, and to external agencies.

You will jointly day-to-day manage the payroll officer team, proactively reviewing, developing and improving the payroll processes, maximising opportunities to deliver a high quality payroll service to internal and external stakeholders.

We are a small friendly team of Police Staff, providing a high quality payroll and pensions service for all departments across the Force. We want people who enjoy working as part of team, but also have the self-motivation to work independently.

To be considered for this role you must have proven knowledge and ability to use a range of computer packages, including Microsoft Office and ideally have previous experience of working within a busy payroll/clerical/administrative or customer facing environment at a supervisory level. You should possess good communication skills. There is an expectation that you will work flexible hours to suit the needs of the department. Staff are able to work from home part of the week, but this must fit with the operational needs of the department.

This is a varied, busy and demanding role which also requires excellent customer service, organisational and administration skills. You will play a key part in promoting West Yorkshire Police, therefore a personable, helpful and friendly manner is crucial to ensuring our officer and staff receive the best experience possible.
