The Yorkshire & Humberside Regional Organised Crime Unit is on the lookout for a dedicated and skilled Police Staff Investigator to join our esteemed Online Sexual Abuse & Exploitation team. This is an opportunity to make a real difference and be part of a small but impactful team that collaborates with local, National, and international partners to combat online sexual abuse and exploitation.

As a police staff investigator, you will play a pivotal role in preventing and protecting those at risk. Whether you have completed PIP1 accreditation and are working towards PIP2 or are already a PIP2 investigator we welcome your application. This role offers the chance to work in an agile environment primarily located in our Rotherham office, while contributing to, meaningful investigations and making a lasting impact

Key responsibilities
• Independently identify, plan, and execute investigative actions, aligning with available resources and priorities
• Evaluate threat harm and risk to formulate effective investigation plans and strategies guided by supervisory where needed.
• Collaborate with fellow investigators and managers to establish appropriate method for gathering and processing evidence.
• Analyse evidence, assess materials and generate intelligent to identify and pursue offenders in compliance with legal requirements and policies.
• Prepare comprehensive investigation reports, manage case files, and ensure disclosure procedures adhere to best practices.
• Utilise multiple computer systems and tools including charter applications and review of data.

Requirements
• Passion for making difference in the field of online sexual abuse and exploitation.
• Successful completion of security clearance and management vetting prior to employment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt and work flexibly to meet department requirements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Familiarity with various computer systems and software tools.

The job description outlines responsibilities for staff training and working towards accreditation. Upon achieving PIP2 accreditation, staff will progress to the higher pay scale and role profile. Those applying who are already PIP2 accredited will remain on their current pay scale.
