West Yorkshire Police would welcome applications for the role of Driver Handyperson based in Wakefield.

In this role you will be responsible for providing a general maintenance service and driving support to cover stations across the Wakefield District. Your duties will therefore include liaising with contractors; providing general maintenance duties such as minor general repairs, moving goods and furniture, receiving deliveries and transporting them around the building.

To be considered for this position, it is essential that you have knowledge of general building maintenance and an ability to carry out minor repairs, and you will be required to drive a fleet vehicle between different sites; although driving is a minor part of this role.

You must also be physically capable of undertaking the duties of the post which involve heavy lifting, and must be willing to work in any post appropriate to the grade at such other place within the Force as may be reasonably required.

Due to the nature of this role, it is essential that you are able to pass an eyesight test before/at the point of interview, and you must hold a full and current UK/European driving license.

The successful candidates will also be able to pass a Police Driving Test- including transit vans and the ability to pass a D1 authority driving licence test.

This post is job share working 18.5 hours per week, Monday/Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays.
