West Yorkshire Police is looking to appoint a Cyber Officer to join our Cyber Crime Unit and provide tactical support to the Cyber Crime Team and the wider organisation.

As a Cyber Officer you will conduct investigations and gather intelligence into cyber dependent crime and serious organised cyber enabled crime. You will also support Serious and complex crime investigations as and when required, producing digital strategies for Senior Investigating Officers identifying and completing technical lines of enquiry.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong working knowledge of computing, digital forensics and data management. They must also have a good understanding of new and emerging technology, 3i (internet, intelligence and investigations), and a demonstrable aptitude for cyber technology.

Applicants should have awareness of current cyber threats to policing and the public, including the obfuscations techniques, dark web, malware and cryptocurrency.

Applicants should also possess a degree or have proven relevant experience in Computing or Security discipline and have the ability to pass the required training courses within the first year of employment.

In addition, they must be prepared to travel outside of the force or nationally for work purposes, work flexibly to suit the needs of the unit, and hold a full current UK/EU driving license. You will be required to complete all necessary officer safety training.

The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment.
