Forensic Review Officer

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to create a small ‘Legacy Forensic Review' team to support Protective Services Crime with the re-investigation of historical undetected homicide, serious sexual offences and other major enquiries.

This will involve identifying and progressing new forensic opportunities that may lead to the detection and prosecution of offenders, through a co-ordinated and structured forensic review process.

West Yorkshire Police would welcome applications for the post of Forensic Review Officer to form part of a small, dedicated team of specialists. To be considered for this exciting new role you must be highly experienced in a range of forensic science disciplines and have knowledge and experience of police investigative processes and the wider criminal justice system.

Successful candidates will have proven ability to develop detailed forensic strategies to support live and/or historic homicide/serious crime investigations and to prioritise work in line with emerging customer requirements.

It is essential you have demonstrated ability to summarise large volumes of complex scientific information, as well as the ability to effectively communicate, negotiate and influence a range of stakeholders.

Due to the nature of the role, you must provide Biometric samples (fingerprints and DNA) for inclusion on the respective Police Elimination Databases for routine speculative searching purposes.

You will have a flexible approach to working hours to ensure efficient forensic review processes and will be able to attend meetings at different locations throughout the Force.
