West Yorkshire Police has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Diversity, Equality & inclusion Team (DEI) within the People Directorate and is looking to recruit a Diversity and Inclusion Officer to join our team based in Wakefield.

In this key role, you will provide support to the Diversity and Inclusion Lead on the delivery of a range of activities across the diversity, equality and inclusion agendas that will ensure legal compliance in relation to the statutory Equality Duties and specifically that Equality Impact Assessment and Human Rights auditing is maintained providing support to managers and policy writers when conducting Equality Impact Assessments. To work collectively with colleagues within Employee Relations, Learning and Organisational Development and the Positive Action team to enable a coherent and consistent response to the requirements of the Force Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) Strategy.

You will oversee and support the work of the Staff Support Networks in line with the Force DEI Strategy and delivery action plan and will monitor compliance and progress, highlighting issues of non-compliance to the Diversity and Inclusion Lead. You will produce reports on DEI related issues. On behalf of the Diversity and Inclusion Lead and will design, develop and implement specific DEI initiatives and carry out monitoring and researching as directed.

For this role you must be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of equality and diversity issues and have a basic knowledge of the relevant legislation. You must have previous experience of analysing, interpreting and presenting data/reports and have knowledge of and previous experience of undertaking Equality Impact Assessments & Human Rights auditing. You must have the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative and have the ability to demonstrate good communications skills both written and verbal with experience of organising and running/managing workshops or facilitated events.
