West Yorkshire Police has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Diversity, Equality & inclusion Team (DEI) within the People Directorate and is looking to recruit a DEI and Positive Action Communications Officer to join our team based in Wakefield.

This role will provide support to the Strategic DEI Specialist in developing effective communications strategies and plans, with consistent messaging to improve the delivery against the Force DEI Strategy and associated national and local action plans.

This role will analyse, present and promote information on all aspects of the DEI and Positive Action teams’ work, for both internal and external audiences using a variety of different communication channels. The role will work collaboratively with colleagues from across the Force including but not limited to district and department DEI SPOCs, Corporate Communications and Staff Networks, to ensure consistency of messaging in relation to the Force Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) Strategy.

For this role, you must be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of legislation relating to media and communications alongside awareness of a range of communication platforms for both internal and external use. You must have previous experience in a communications field such as journalism, digital communications or public relations.

Ideally candidates will also possess the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.

The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment.
