Fixed Term to cover Maternity Leave for 10 months.

West Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Mark Burns-Williamson, is seeking to appoint an Engagement Officer on a 10 month fixed tern contract to work with him to continue to make a real difference to the lives of people across communities in West Yorkshire.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal skills to support community engagement. As part of a busy team, you will be organising the activity of the PCC and engaging with people, groups and communities in a pro-active and positive way. With a strong commitment to this area of work, you will develop, co-ordinate and deliver on the engagement activities of the PCC and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC).

You will be responsible for ensuring there is meaningful engagement and communication between the PCC/ OPCC and individuals and groups. You will represent or accompany the PCC on working groups, at internal and external meetings and at events to support the PCC in engaging with all our communities and with members of the public, raising awareness of the priorities and commitments as set out in the Police and Crime Plan.

You will be educated to degree level or have previous experience of engagement gained in a relevant professional area, delivering on consultation and public and partner events organisation; with a proven ability to work in a pressured environment with competing demands

You will be expected to travel around West Yorkshire and work outside of normal office hours to attend local, regional and national meetings and provide direct advice and support to the PCC. The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment. This post is suitable for job share.
