This is an excellent opportunity to join the restructured Digital Policing function at the implementation stage, within the Information Management section.

West Yorkshire Police recognises the importance of good information handling in order to support our Police Officers and staff in providing an excellent service to the people and communities of West Yorkshire.

Overseeing a team of two Support Officers and the Information Security Officer (non-technical), this is a fundamental, exciting new role.

In this role, you will be responsible for the identification, assessment and management of information risk, along with managing the Force Information Risk Register and the Information Asset Register.

This will require close working relationships with a number of key stakeholders, including Information Asset Owners, Information Asset Assistants and IT Security.

Reporting to the Data Protection Officer, you will be part of a team of Subject Matter experts working together in the development of strategy, policy and process to ensure information assets, including personal data and operational/business assets, are managed securely, in accordance with the law and relevant standards, and in support of key policing and organisational objectives.

The successful candidate will have a Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant Information Assurance/Security subject, specialist qualification in this area or proven recent relevant experience in an organisation of similar size and nature.

You will also have proven knowledge and experience of Information Security Standards, such as Data Protection Act 1998 Principle 7, HMG Security standards and supporting good practice guidelines.

In addition the successful candidate will hold a relevant management qualification, or relevant recent experience in managing, leading and motivating staff and proven knowledge/experience of risk management methodology application.

You will also have experience of writing detailed reports and of the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

You will additionally have a full current UK/European driving licence or the ability and willingness to travel for business purposes and be prepared to work flexible hours to suit the requirements of the Unit.
